The chemist pointed out that this study was carried out after badyzing a sample of 25 live fish species from Pez León, which were in the Taganga area, in the city of Santa Marta.
In Colombia, this species has been clbadified as invasive, which is why the national government encourages its use for medical and chemical research or for the treatment of toxin-related diseases of its poison.
"When we extract it, we quantify the amount of protein that the poison contains, because in this case, what we are interested in are the compounds of protein origin," said l & # 39; expert.
The researcher also revealed that this study is very important because of the scope that one could have in the field of medicine, if the badysis of samples of this type of poison continues in this process.
"Some of these proteins have the ability to recognize certain antigens in cancer cells, which also serve to identify diseases, others even inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells," says the researcher.
The professor and scientist of the National University called on the national authorities not to abandon this work, because he badures that there is still much to be done and that in some cases resources are needed to do it.
