Quito, November 4 (PL) The 16th Cidap 2018 American Craft Festival ends today in the Ecuadorian heritage city of Cuenca.
Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and hostess Ecuador are some of the countries that presented their expertise at the event, which includes 146 stands.
The meeting included parallel programs 40 artisans who presented their experiences, as well as a photography exhibition devoted to crafts and popular culture in the city of Cuenca.
Music, dance and theater performances, presentations by Patrimonio Vivo (crafts demonstrations) and an altar of the dead of Mexico on the occasion of the Day of the Dead also featured on the agenda .
The day before, Rocío de Moreno, president of the Plan One Life inter-agency committee, toured the festival grounds and spoke about the support offered by the national executive to promote the work of Ecuadorian artisans, especially women.
"We have the obligation to do crafts. support, not only for what it means to keep the traditions, but for all the manual work involved. For us, in the government, it is very important to maintain this craft which is an art, "he said.
The 29 international exhibitors, 19 winners of the Recognition of the excellence of the United Nations Educational, stand out at the show, Science and Culture (Unesco) and six winners of national awards.
