As he was turning 19, Sam Ballard swallowed a slug as a challenge from his friends. A few weeks later, he became a quadriplegic.

The theory indicates that the ingested Sam slug was contaminated. It was then that he fell into a coma for 420 days. When he woke up, he could not walk or move alone, he became a quadriplegic.
