The new painkiller Dsuvia has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Currently limited to limited use in health care facilities because it is ten times more potent than fentanyl,
FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the drug should not be used during more than 72 hours. The single-dose drug dissolves under the tongue.
On the same day of Dsuvia's approval, the DEA reports that since 2001, Dsuvia's side effects have been extreme fatigue, respiratory problems, coma and death.
