Technology giant Google unveiled this week a tip allowing device users running the Android operating system to reduce battery consumption.
At a presentation at the Android Dev Summit 2018 – event for the Android developers that Google hosted on November 7 and 8 in Mountain View (California, USA) explained how many colors require a quantity of # 39; different energy on the AMOLED screen (the trick does not work on LCD screens).
So, those looking to minimize the cost of the battery can do this by activating the dark mode in applications. As an example, Google presenters, Chris Banes and Alan Viverette, compared the power consumption of a Google Pixel device and an iPhone 7 when they display a screenshot with the maximum brightness. In dark Pixel mode, one saves 63% of the battery, while the consumption level of the iPhone 7, which is equipped with an LCD, is identical.
This is related to the technology used in these types of screen AMOLED models use diodes that emit light and consume little energy when black color is displayed, while LCD screens have a layer that illuminates the liquid crystal, so that the power consumption of the LCD does not depend on the colors.
Google has also reported that white is the color that requires the most energy, and that the second place is occupied by blue. However, these results are a stone on the roof of Google, which admitted to prefer the white color in the applications and design of Android.
