A team of researchers from Denmark, Germany and the United States discovered a crater of 31 km and 300 meters deep north of Greenland. The big hole is covered with ice which has hidden it all this time.

According to the journal Science Advances, the crater was formed during the Pleistocene stretching. from 2 million years ago to 10 thousand years ago. The meteorite that touched the earth was iron and had a little over a kilometer longitude.

"The crater is exceptionally well preserved and it is surprising, because glacier ice is an incredibly effective erosive agent that would have quickly eliminated traces of impact", explained Professor Kurt H. Kjaer, of the Geogenetics Center of the Natural History Museum of Denmark

"This means that the crater must be quite young from a geological point of view."

The impact is clbadified in . ] the 25 most violent discovered up to now . The crater that formed the explosion is larger than Paris or Washington D.C . The next step is to discover exactly the date of the impact and how affected the climate of the moment .
