For three weeks. I've tested the Mate 20 Pro, the most modern equipment of this new family of Huawei (the Mate 20 has only a few less things and the Mate 20 X points especially to the segment of "players"). I got it as the main smartphone. Honestly, the experience was very good and I anticipated something in a note with my first impressions of the team . Huawei made it clear during the P9 that its priority was to have the best camera to easily take the best photos. However, the video was still his lame leg.

The verdict? The Mate 20 Pro shows a breakthrough of Huawei in its overall proposition and shows a very mature proposition. The best of all, especially for fans of the brand, is that it always has the roof to continue to offer more.

DESIGN

PERFORMANCE

This is where the attractiveness of this new equipment is concentrated. Already with the P20 Pro Huawei marked a milestone in the photographic quality offered by a mobile device. And when it seemed like you could not do much, the Mate 20 Pro arrived: is this a dramatic improvement in the quality of the cameras designed in collaboration with Leica? No, but overall, a big step is noted. The best thing to do is that not only are the photos circumscribed, but the video has been significantly improved.

I particularly like the inclusion of wide-angle lenses because they are always useful. I believe that if the phone is used to record, for example, a trip, the wide angle is fundamental to capturing buildings and scenarios in all their splendor. This can already be done by the companion 20 Pro of Huawei . Now, if you add to that the ability to take night shots (which we had already surprised with the P20 Pro and which have been improved) or that artificial intelligence adapts to the settings for you to shoot the best of each plan, there is still plenty to have fun.

When it comes to artificial intelligence applied to photos, I think it has been improved. When setting up each available scene, the colors are a little softer and the shots are not as bright as before. Some new scenarios have been added (such as historic buildings). In the Mate 20 Pro of Huawei the blur effect has also been improved. The contours are more precise and the finish is generally good, provided that the background and object lighting conditions are the best.

The portrait mode is also improved. Some functions have been added and add effects (such as stained glbad, store, etc.) that transfer the image represented to other backgrounds.
