The Content Platform on Demand Netflix is a rage in thousands of Argentine homes. The opportunity to enjoy series, documentaries and quality movies has been installed on our TVs and seems to have come to stay. But all is not pleasure with this service, since appeared a new form of scam and that we must keep our eyes open to avoid unpleasant surprises .

In recent days, the "thing" that those who wish to have an active account, but without paying it and make him pay another.

How does fraud work?

The scammers take advantage of a little-known feature of Google's messaging service, Gmail : add a dot in front of or behind any one letter of address, maneuver which causes that any mail reaches the original account .

Example: emails sent to [email protected] will always arrive at the original box [email protected]

The scam is given like this : a subject X records a Netflix account with the e-mail address of another person who already has one, adding only one point somewhere in the new account. The problem is that for Google it's the same person, but for Netflix, these are two different accounts.

The next step, when subject X has to pay by credit card, cancels the card expired or discharged. It is then that Netflix reports that the payment has failed; he does it by mail and the recipient is Mario and not the suejto X.

This forces Mario to reenter his credit card information in order to continue enjoying his favorite series, but in doing so, he does not know The original account is in perfect condition and you pay a new account to someone you do not know.

The email in question is official Netflix and the card data you enter on the same page of the platform, so it is undetectable as Phishing (identity theft).

But all is not there, since the crook can then change the email badociated with the Mario account and remove the access … and Mario will continue to pay without the know.

Recommendation: Check the credit card statement and make sure you do not pay twice. If you detect something strange, it is better to cancel the payments and ask for a new card at the bank.
