Felipe Larraín calls for calm in the public sector and says that mobilizations "are not the way"

At a demonstration in front of the Moneda Palace, hundreds of workers from across the public sector protested this morning to demand a 3.5% increase in their pay, while the government offered an increase of 3.1%.

"We have been negotiating for two months and the government of Sebastián Piñera has not been able to make proposals allowing us to reach an agreement on these issues," he said today. in statements to Agencia Efe, president of Anef, Carlos Insunza, whose union is supported by the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT) in the mobilization.

Faced with this, Finance Minister Felipe Larraín called on tax experts to dialogue. "We are making the necessary efforts within the restrictions we have, but we are trying and want to reach an agreement," said Emol.

The portfolio manager added that "the important thing is to maintain the dialogue, I think that for the moment, the mobilizations are not the way but the dialogue."

National Strike

The head of Anef added that this "national strike" is being conducted as part of the annual negotiations that the workers are conducting regarding the adjustment of public sector pay and working conditions. .

"In addition, our demands focus on the wave of redundancies implied by the installation of the government of Sebastián Piñera this year: 2,700 workers who were fired," he added.

Insunza also explained that this month the process of renewing employees with annual contracts and that they will "ask the government" to guarantee the stability of the workforce "to the right workers sector ".

The groups of leaders will meet Monday afternoon with the Minister of Labor, Nicolás Monckeberg, and Felipe Larraín himself, who leads the negotiations with the sector.

After this meeting, "we will define the continuity or not of the mobilization, but that depends exclusively on the proposals of the government," added the representative of Anef.
