The motorcycle market in Colombia registered 257,406 new registrations between January and June, which represents an increase of 7.58% (over 18,000 additional units) compared to what was reported during the same period last year. This was reported by the report of Fenalco and Andi, entities that announced that during this same period, 13,173 registered vehicles were registered, which means that for each of these units sold, two motorcycles were registered .

Oliverio García, president of Andemos, pointed out that there are several reasons that motivate the preference of the motorcycle on the car. The first is the price because with a small investment (which does not exceed 3 million dollars), you can own one of these vehicles. The second is that the expenses for this type of vehicle are lower (both for the consumption of gasoline and for maintenance and spare parts). And the third is the agility that it offers amid traffic jams in the cities.

For Eduardo Visbal, vice president of Fenalco's automotive sector, this commercial phenomenon will increase because there is more confidence because the political leadership is already known who will take the country for the next four years. "It's possible to exceed 500,000 units of motorcycles sold this year," Visbal said.

If you badyze the register of registrations in June by department, Antioquia has the highest number of new motorcycles by adding 7,609 units, an increase of 13% over last year. Second place goes to Cundinamarca, which has increased by 5%, from 6 256 units in June 2017 to 6 569 motorcycles in June 2018. And the podium is completed by Valle del Cauca, with 5 885 new motorcycles and an increase of 9 , 3%. 19659007] In the midst of this growing market, the brands that sell the most are: with a 24.5% stake and 10,145 registrations, Bajaj has been in first place in sales since the beginning of the year.
