Iansa confirms that tomorrow will make the key decision on the closure of the factory in Linares

For an hour, the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, met with Iansa's commercial director, Raimundo Díaz, and the chairman of his board, Joaquín Noguera, to discuss the possible closure of the Linares factory, which, if materialized, would leave about 4,000 people without work.

According to Díaz after the appointment, the company he has not made any decision on the future of the plant in question and the final decision will be taken at the meeting of the council tomorrow at 10:30 am and the resolution should be known around noon.

The commercial director of the candy reported that, like them, the secretary of state was concerned about the situation and explained how the ministry could help Iansa, among the options of which he mentioned again the badysis of changes to the green tax, although Díaz denied that this tax "was important at the time of the decision if the Linares plant continues or not".

On this point, the executive explained that "Iansa lived a long time ago, about two years, a very complex trading situation, and this has basically to do with the low international prices that sugar has. Chile is an open economy, prices in Chile are directly linked to international prices, we have at least two years with a situation of very low international prices and sugar is also traded in the futures exchange, so we can now project what are future prices of sugar sales, and these future prices indicate that they are fairly similar to current prices.
