Friday night, Kraftwerk gave a show at the Jazz Open Festival in Stuttgart, Germany, and closed it in the most unthinkable way, but he liked it : they played " Spacelab ", his 1978 song, next to the German astronaut Alexander Gerst directly from the International Space Station.

Gerst, who is one of six people currently in space, used a tablet configured with a virtual synthesizer to interpret the song, while being screened live on the screens.

Before beginning the interpretation, Gerst comments:

"The ISS is a Machine-Man, the most complex and most valuable machine mankind has built. Columbus European laboratory, the successor of Spacelab, the European Space Agency (ESA) is studying things that will improve everyday life on Earth.More than 100 different nations work together peacefully and achieve things that only one nation could never achieve. We develop technologies aboard the ISS to go beyond our current horizons and prepare ourselves to bring more species into spaces, the Moon and Mars.
