LG is working on a camera system of 16 cameras that would be placed at the back of a cell phone … why? We do not know it.

The Asian company received a patent mentioning a 4×4 camera system, giving rise to 16 cameras, an amount that we have not seen so far. The system can be flat or curved to be able to offer different perspectives of an image.

LG did not comment immediately to CNET.

The patent describes that an example of using 16 cameras is to take a portrait with one lens and that the other lenses would take pictures from different angles. the user can use different areas of each of these images to create a single photo with the best of all.

The phone equipped with this system of 16 cameras would also have a screen and a rear speaker, this to create a stereo sound, says the patent.

A patent is not necessarily synonymous with a product that we will see on the market. In fact, companies generate these records to protect their ideas and make sure they have a backup in case another company and the competition do the same.

However, as the market becomes more and more crazy with a phone number of three, five and even six cameras, anything can happen with LG. The South Korean company has already surprised us with particular cell phones, such as the LG V10 supplied with a secondary screen over the main one.
