The neighbors of the municipalities of La Reina, Providencia and Las Condes today rejected large-scale construction of an artificial lagoon inside Parque Padre Alberto Hurtado, also known as the intercomunal park name.
The decision was made official. later, when the three municipalities communicated the results of the citizen consultation to implement a park improvement plan, option 2 having been winning with 56,420 votes (72.5%).
Option 1, which included the construction of the controversial crystalline lagoon, reached 21,392 votes, or 21.5% of preferences.
Citizen consultation took place today and allowed to vote for the inhabitants of the three municipalities on the electoral lists.
According to the mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín, one of the promoters had explained the project of the artificial lagoon, the project envisaged 15 000 square meters for the development of water sports and two sand beaches occupying 3,500 additional square meters.
