On Saturday afternoon, the National Emergency Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security (Onemi) decided to order Red Alert for the Municipality of Melipilla due to a forest fire which has already destroyed 8 hectares of vegetation.
Onemi, through its website, reported that the fire called Puertas Coloradas was located near populated areas.

The statement of the Red Alert allows to use all the necessary and available resources, in addition to the activities already deployed by the National Forestry Society (Conaf), the fire brigade and the national civil protection system. In this way, steps will be taken to control the situation, given the magnitude and severity of the event.

Two brigades, two technicians and a Conaf helicopter work on site alongside firefighters, carabinieri, firefighters from Melipilla, as well as municipal and provincial staff, because the affected areas are close populated areas.
