Rafael de la-Hoz starts building the tallest skyscraper in Africa
The construction of Africa's tallest skyscraper is expected to begin in two weeks. Designed by the Spanish architects Rafael de la Hoz Architects and the Moroccan cabinet CHB Hakim Benjelloun, the Bank of Africa Tower, 820 feet high, will be named the highest tower of the Carlton Center in Johannesburg. In order to obtain the LEED Gold and HQE ratings, construction of the tower will begin on November 1 and is expected to be completed on May 30, 2022.
Belgian construction companies BESIX and Casablanca General Construction Works (CCGT) were selected for the project and BESIX completed previous projects such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. BMCE Bank of Africa of Morocco is sponsoring the project, whose cost is estimated at MAD 3,000 million. The Bank of Africa Tower will have 55 floors with a luxury hotel, offices and apartments.
