According to what was reported this Friday, July 20 by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), exports from the Magallanes region and the Chilean Antarctic totaled 66.5 million dollars during the month of May of the year 2018, which represents a 10.7% retracement compared to deliveries made during the same period in 2017.

Regarding the badysis by economic sector, it was observed that this decrease was mainly due to the decline from one year to the next. , 1% of the industry sector; which, in turn, recorded the highest contribution in the value of shipments (with 96.2% of the total) and presented goods valued at $ 64 million.

By continent, America recorded goods for an amount of $ 36.2 million; 54.3% of total exports. The contribution mentioned resulted in a decrease of 18.2% in twelve months; strongly influenced by the decrease in the quantity of goods shipped to Brazil and the United States.

According to the foregoing, Brazil was the country with the highest participation with 28.6% of the total amount, this contribution meant $ 19 million in deliveries; showing a decrease of 22.9% in twelve months. In second place, the United States accounted for 21.2% of the value exported, with transactions totaling $ 14.1 million; revealing a 6.3% drop in exports to this country from one year to the next.

Given the value of the economic bloc exported by destination, shipments to the countries comprising the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) totaled $ 32.4 million. However, there was a 10.7% year-on-year decline in the value of exports to this block.
