A new report from the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington revealed a serious danger found in pots and pans with Teflon, utensils commonly used in kitchens.
According to Daily Mail reports, these nonstick clothing products, as well as impervious clothing and stain-resistant carpets contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which would be a dangerous chemical compound.
In this sense, the experts specified that the presence of PFOA increased the risk of development of liver tumors, pancreas and testes of animals in laboratories, reducing their fertility. Similarly, the compound generates hormonal changes, thyroid disorders and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Faced with this, they finally warned that when Teflon pans and barrels are overheated or scratched, the compound could affect humans.
