This Sunday, the new Highway Coexistence Act comes into force. One of the points of the new legislation is that, except for minors under 14, older adults or people traveling with children under seven, no cyclist can use the sidewalks as a transit route.

The regulation was published almost six months ago. According to the text, the cycles must circulate along the cycle lanes, or in their absence, on the right side of the road. In this way, the use of sidewalks is prohibited.

Another striking point is that if a vehicle exceeds or exceeds one of these "cycles", it must be maintained at a distance of one and a half meters. However, the control of these measures raises doubts.

In any event, Minister Hutt badured that, given these issues, the regulations would be adjusted over time after they come into force.
