Franco Samuel Pinazzo and Rolph Vuyk Duré, Architecture students from the Faculty of Architecture of the National University of Asunción, win the 3rd. placed under the University Infrastructure Contest – which was held in Chile – with the project "Nanawa-Asunción Cableway".

Students said that the project of unification of the two cities by the cable car has emerged because of the need to mobilize people, who put four hours to make a journey of 42 kilometers, and they will be reduced in only 20 minutes. In addition, they identified the commercial potential that would result from the union of the two localities, taking into account the border movement of Nanawa.

They had the architect Lucas Fuster as tutor of the project. The plan contemplates its completion from the union of two points between Itapytãpunta, in Asunción, and a terminal at Nanawa, which would be near a floodplain. The road that would lead the cable car is 800 meters, and would have a hybrid system of independent power generated by a wheel that uses the current of the Paraguay River.

Pinazzo and Vuyk said that carrying out this project would cost less than building a bridge In addition, the cable car would bring other benefits, such as the commercial revaluation of areas, the reconversion of the urban landscape, among others.

The winners emphasized the importance of improving communication between the two geographical points to favor the installation of other complementary infrastructure. this can help the development of both cities.
