The confirmed death of two people with influenza (April case) has raised 29 cases of this type across the country: 25 in Santa Cruz, 3 in La Paz and 1 in Cochabamba.
"The two cases are from April, but after going through the review committee, it was determined that they had the flu," said the national chief of the hospital. Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Cordero, Tuesday.
According to a press release from this office, a 71-year-old man with diabetes and high blood pressure was found, while the second was 41 years old and was diagnosed with Chagasic chronic heart disease. Both deaths were recorded on April 30 in Santa Cruz.
"We must remember that they have not died recently, but the month of April (…) with these two reported cases would add 29 deaths with influenza," Cordero said.
According to the Ministry of Health, the rest of the deceased also suffered from underlying diseases such as Down syndrome, chronic heart disease, acute renal failure, obesity, hypertension, puerpera, and type 2 diabetes.
