Chrissy Teigen reveals what inspired her to get sober

Chrissy Teigen, who recently opened up about her sobriety, took to social media on Wednesday to explain her decision to quit drinking.

In one of her latest Instagram posts, the model and cookbook author recommended Holly Whitaker’s self-help book, “Stop Like a Woman: The Drastic Choice Not to Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Food. ‘alcohol’, and opened up about her past drinking habits.

“A month ago, on my birthday, I received this book from my doctor and friend,” Teigen captioned a photo of the book on his Instagram Story.

“I was done doing one – of myself in front of people (I’m still embarrassed), tired of drinking during the day and feeling like – at 6, not being able to sleep. I’ve been sober ever since and even if you don’t see yourself doing it or just don’t want to, it’s still an amazing read.

Teigen briefly mentioned earlier this month in a video showing sparkly makeup accessories and matching Christmas headbands with her and John Legend’s daughter Luna, whom she had quit drinking.

The author of “Cravings,” known for documenting much of her life online, has been particularly open this year about her struggles. In September, Teigen revealed she suffered pregnancy loss in a heart-wrenching article that caught the attention and admiration of many, who applauded her for facing the stigma surrounding pregnancy complications.

Her emotional tale of the loss prompted others to tell their own stories of grief and healing, culminating in a powerful Teigen essay.

“The worst part is knowing that there are so many women out there who won’t get these moments of quiet joy from strangers,” she wrote on Medium in October. “Please share your stories and be kind to those who pour out. Be kind in general, as some won’t dump them at all.

Expect more candid 2021 content from Teigen, who has previously declared his New Year’s resolution: “don’t explain S – to you folks.”

“For years I have been CONSUMED by the urge to explain why I do what I do, why I did it [what] I did it, ”she continued on Twitter. “NO MORE. I’m gonna do stuff… I do stuff and you can imagine.

“(Note: I’ll explain how to cook things anyway),” she added.
