After nearly two weeks of speculation and uncertainty, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) dropped the case against Christian Coleman, thus preserving the eligibility of the world's fastest man to participate in next world championships in the open air and compete in the 2020 Olympic Games.
On August 22, reports revealed that Coleman was under suspension for up to two years for three violations of the localization rules – without being the place where it was reported – in a 12 months period. Two days later, the USADA confirmed the violations and Coleman responded publicly.
But now, his arbitration hearing, initially scheduled for Sept. 4, with the subsequent decision expected the next day, will no longer be held.
And this is largely due to an interpretation of the viscous rule.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) says that a "failed deposit will be deemed to have occurred on the first day of the quarter for which the athlete fails to make a deposit (sufficient) ".
As a result, AMA filed Coleman 's first breach on April 1, 2018, and not on the date on which it actually occurred: June 6, 2018. The last violation of the sprinter s'. is produced on April 26, 2019.
Because three failures did not technically occur in 12 months, USADA filed the case.
To avoid future confusion, the rule is being rewritten and is expected to come into effect in 2021.

Although USADA has authorized Coleman, its case is subject to appeal by the IAAF and / or WADA.
Coleman, the reigning 100m American champion, is currently the fastest man in the world on this distance and the big favorite before the 2019 IAAF World Outdoor Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar. He will also participate in the relay 200m and 4x100m.
Since his silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in the 100m, Coleman has been the world's best man at the event. Last year, he won the Diamond League final with a record of 9.79 for life and broke the indoor world record in the 60m.
This season he has the fastest two fastest times in the 100m, 9.81 and 9.85. At the USATF Championships in July, Coleman is also ranked second in the 200m.
According to the USADA database, Coleman has been tested at least nine times in 2018 and 11 times in 2019.
