MILWAUKEE – Christian Yelich seems to intend to retain this award from the most valuable player in the National League for another year.

After leveling the Major League record by scoring a solo goal in each of his team's first four games, Yelich gave Jordan Hicks a two-goal double in the bottom of the ninth 4 Cardinals victory at Miller Park.

With the Brewers on one point, Ben Gamel led the ninth with a brace and Lorenzo Cain hit on the Hicks glove. Yelich then lined up a double from the opposite pitch to the gap. Harrison Bader, a Cardinals center player, tried to take a dive break, but baseball broke loose from his glove, giving Cain time to make the drive to the winning home.

The return spared Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes from losing on his first major league start after Burnes struck out 12 batters but got a circuit trio for the Cardinals.
