Christina Koch will set a record for the longest space flight made by a woman

As part of the calendar update, NASA also announced that two astronauts, Andrew Morgan and Jessica Meir, would make their first flights into space later this year. And Morgan will stay longer than expected at the ISS. It will arrive in July and stay there until the spring of 2020.

By extending the Koch and Morgan missions, NASA will be able to gather more data on the effects of spaceflight beyond six months. NASA states that there is a considerable degree of variability in the human response to space travel and wishes to determine the degree of acceptable change for both men and women. We will need to better understand these changes in order to plan future explorations to the Moon and Mars.
