Chrome OS is set to get a new Quality of Life upgrade, allowing you to automatically sort apps in the launcher.
On Chrome OS today, the apps you install are placed on different launcher pages in a sometimes unpredictable way. By clicking and dragging any app’s icon, you can move it elsewhere on the page or move it entirely to another page.
While this is convenient, any rearranging of your launcher should be done manually, one application at a time. According to a recently released code change, which adds a new flag to chrome: // flags, Chrome OS launcher will be able to sort your apps over the next few months.

At this time, there are no details on how this sorting option works for the Chrome OS launcher or whether it is enabled by default, but we’ll be watching it grow over the next few weeks. It could be a simple alphabetical sort or alternate sorting options like your most commonly used apps.
Whatever the outcome, this should be a great quality of life upgrade for Chrome OS when it launches later this year. Since development is only just beginning, I wouldn’t expect the launcher sorting to arrive before Chrome OS 94 at the earliest.
