An evening of acrobatics and live music will take place in the Dvorak concert hall in Doudna on Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm via “Le Cirque Esprit”.
The Boston Circus Guild and the CORDIS Group will be present.
Dennis Malak, Director of Programming, Advertising and Promotion for Doudna, described the event as a multimedia circus and live music performance.
“It brings together the kind of unique identity of the American circus and it combines it with contemporary music, there’s going to be a huge platform of light brought in for that, aerial work, it’s kind of a unique thing. in its kind, that is not done often, “said Malak.” Most of the time you will see things played on tracks, but that’s with live music. “
According to a description by Landspeed Artist Management, “Cirque Esprit has established a unique identity in American circus by framing the pioneering contemporary music of CORDIS under a spectacular tapestry of lights, acrobatics, aerial work.
Malak also mentioned some of the acts and skills the performers would do, especially above the live music from CORDIS.
“They’re going to have a balancing act, bristles, where they’re climbing and doing floss work, they’re going to do juggling, contortion, aerial hoops, things like that,” said Malak. “So it’s a really big production that will just be entertaining overall with some really high quality new music performed underneath.”
The group has their own setup that they are able to bring to their shows in order to accommodate venues that might not be able to provide everything a traveling aerial circus needs. The process of setting everything up begins Monday evening and ends with a morning of rehearsals and a masterclass.
“This business bought everything it needed to maintain itself anywhere,” said Malak. “So they’re going to bring all the material, we’re going to set it up tonight in anticipation of the event, then we’re going to set up some more tomorrow, probably going through a few rehearsals, we’ll have a masterclass at 11am tomorrow. morning, then we will have the show at 7:30 am.
Anyone can enjoy high-flying feats, Malak said, and many will, judging by the encouraging ticket sales.
“It should be a really cool and spectacular event,” said Malak. “Really big, family friendly, fun for everyone, at all ages. Tickets are going fast for us, so we’re really excited about that.
Tickets cost $ 20 for general admission, $ 15 for Eastern employees, and $ 10 for students.
