Message from City Manager Deanna J. Santana
Dear Santa Clarans,
After a brief hiatus from Council, City Hall News returns with other events in Santa Clara. This month, several of our students have returned to school. I hope your families have had a safe start to the school year! Our city offers many leisure programs and courses now available including after-school programs at the Youth Activity Center. We’re ending August with some wonderful community events, including National evening, Celebrate Santa Clara, and the Chalk art competition.
Last week, city council did a six-month audit of council priorities as part of the priority setting audit at the city council meeting. See the meeting to hear the discussion. We throw Redistribution 2021 With the selection of the Independent Constituency Commission this Thursday, tune in to the meeting broadcast live on August 26.
Today, the Central Park Library extends in-person services for customers to browse the collections! The three branch libraries now offer more in-person services as well as the Bookmobile library on the move in your neighborhood. Our senior center is now open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The City of Santa Clara remains open and offers a wide range of online and in-person services and continues to follow county and state guidelines as we continue our plans for the opening re-transition.
Unfortunately, we are still very much experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, with the outbreak of the Delta variant. Naturally, the spread of COVID-19 will impact our ability to provide services and if so, we will continue to provide updates via social media, this bi-monthly report and any other tools we have available to keep Santa Clarans informed. Check out all the details of events, meetings and more in my latest issue of City Hall News.
In the community spirit,
Deanna. J. Santana
