Greensboro History Museum, UNC Greensboro, Cycling in Greensboro (BIG), City of Greensboro Department of Transportation and other community partners will host a family celebration of the revolutionary impact of cycling on women and the vote on Saturday, October 9. There will be a family-friendly festival from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Avenue, and two separate cycling routes departing from the Museum at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Free cycling routes have been mapped to uncover the local legacy of women’s struggle for the right to vote. A six mile ride leaves the museum at 10:00 a.m. (connect at 9.45 a.m.) and a two mile ride at 11:15 a.m. (connect at 11:00 a.m.). Registration for one or both parts of the tour is available at this website. These rides are open to all levels. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets, or reserve a free or discounted Blue Duck bike. You will find information and details on the registration link.

The rides are followed by a family festival outside the Greensboro History Museum from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include a Bike Safety Rodeo for Kids and Families, Biking and Voting Craft and Themed Activities, Voter Registration and Bike Safety Information Tables, Scoop Ice Cream Zone available for purchase, and more. Participation in the bike tour is not compulsory to attend the festival.

The Greensboro History Museum, an AAM-accredited Smithsonian branch, is a division of the Greensboro City Library Department and operates in a public-private partnership with the non-profit organization GHM Inc. In Partnering with the community, the Greensboro History Museum brings together diverse history and connects people to that history and to each other through engaging exhibits, educational programs and community dialogue. Located in the cultural district of downtown Greensboro, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free entry.
