(Clarinda) – The Iowa Corrections Department website shows that a second prison staff has died “with Covid”.

November 28 is the date given for the death of a staff member who worked at the Clarinda Correctional Center and had hired Covid. State prison officials issued a press release announcing recent Covid-related inmate deaths, but the department does not release any additional information about the deceased staff member, just the brief note on the agency listing Covid cases in the prison system.

Ten inmates in state prisons have died from complications related to Covid. Nearly 200 inmates in the state prison system have active infections after testing positive for the virus and 61 prison staff are listed as positive and have not yet recovered from Covid.

A staff member at Mitchellville Prison for Women died with Covid on November 16, according to the Iowa Corrections Department website.
