Clark County COVID-19 activity hits highest level on record

One death was reported last week, a man in his 50s with an underlying illness, so far bringing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 306, according to public health data.

New cases reported since August 26 include 1,243 that have been confirmed using molecular PCR testing, for a total of 29,725 cases since the start of the pandemic, and 359 probable cases diagnosed with antigen testing, for a total of 2,730 to date, according to Public Health Data.

Combined, these cases average about 229 new cases per day, far exceeding the average of about 180 new cases per day reported at the height of the post-holiday outbreak on January 8, according to public health data.

As of Thursday, there were 1,561 active cases still in isolation, an increase of 210 from August 26.

Health officials have vaccines paired with a face covering are the best way to protect yourself and others from infection. As of Saturday, 65.3% of eligible Clark County residents had received at least one dose and 58.5% were fully immunized.

Vaccines are available free of charge at many local pharmacies and health providers.
