Florida State and Clemson will not play on Saturday after the team’s medical staff failed to agree on whether to continue the game, the ACC said in a statement.

The teams were scheduled to play at noon in Tallahassee.

“We are disappointed that we cannot play today’s game against Florida State,” Clemson AD Dan Radakovich tweeted. “Clemson followed all of ACC protocol in preparation for this game. We look forward to returning to action next week against Pitt for Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day.”

In a statement, the league said both teams continue to adhere to minimum protocols outlined in the CCA medical advisory group report.

“Our first priority is the health of our student-athletes, and I appreciate the protocols that have been put in place by the FSU and CCA to ensure the health of all while allowing us to play this season,” said Florida State coach Mike Norvell in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that we don’t have the opportunity to compete today, but we hope to be able to play Clemson in December. I am grateful for the support and coordination between our administration, Clemson and the CCA office. focus on welcoming Virginia next week. “

The state ACC protocol teams are to be tested the day before the competition, so the state of Florida and Clemson were tested under conference rules on Friday. These tests are performed by an independent third party and the results are received the same day or early the next day. Once these tests are received, both schools receive a call with ACC to confirm if they feel comfortable continuing the game. This is standard before any ACC game can be played.

In this case, Florida State and Clemson could not agree to move the game forward. Clemson made the trip to Tallahassee with the intention of playing the game.

The ACC also announced a number of schedule changes on Saturday.

Louisville’s game at Boston College which was recently moved to December 12 will now be played on November 28 and Wake Forest in Louisville has been moved to December 19.

The Wake Forest at Duke match will not be postponed. Wake Forest has now been approved to play a non-conference game on November 28
