CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland Clinic will tighten visitation limits at all of its Ohio sites starting Tuesday, September 14, the hospital system said on Monday. The changes are due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, according to a statement from the Clinic.

Currently, clinic patients – whether positive or negative for COVID-19 – can have two visitors per day in all settings.

Visiting hours remain from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. All visitors must be at least 18 years old, wear a mask at all times, and pass a COVID-19 health exam upon arrival. Go to the Clinic’s website for updates on visitation policies.

These changes come into effect:

For most patients who test positive or negative for COVID-19:

  • Hospitalized patients will be entitled to a designated visitor throughout their hospital stay.
  • Outpatients will be allowed a visitor by appointment or procedure.
  • Patients in the emergency department will be entitled to a designated visitor throughout their hospital stay.

For some specific areas the rules differ some.

Antenatal appointment:

  • COVID-19 positive patients will be entitled to a visitor.
  • COVID-19 negative patients will be entitled to two visitors for fetal ultrasounds and one visitor for regular prenatal appointments.

Labor and delivery:

  • COVID-19 positive patients will be entitled to a visitor during labor.
  • COVID-19 negative patients will be entitled to two visitors.

Pediatrics:

  • COVID-19 positive patients will be entitled to a parent or guardian.
  • COVID-19 negative patients will be entitled to two parents or guardians.
