THE NEW GENERATION OF ARTISANS FROM QUILT: In an initial review of quilts made by youth (17 and under), these three youth participants received the highest recognition. From left to right, Anabelle McGriff who placed 2nd, Avery Hart who placed 1st and Marli Pirman who placed 3rd. Other young participants included Taylynn Spurlock, Layni Ann Hutchinson, Addison McCully, Lillie Knoch and Aliah Knoch.

Members of the Clinton County Quilters Guild annually make and donate hero quilts to honor veterans for their service. Five winners (or a member of their family) were in attendance for this presentation photo on Saturday, along with three members of the Wilmington American Legion Post 49 linked to the project. Left to right are Loretta McWhorter, whose husband Larry is honored, winner Jack Vest, niece of Jack and one winner Shelly Vest Knowles, Jack Rose of post 49, winner Jim Vest (twin brother of Jack), Charlie Shoemaker from Post 49 is Tonya Jones who is the daughter of winner Tom Shuttleworth and Paul Butler of Post 49. Five additional quilts will also be given to other veterans this year.
