CM Punk Responds to AJ Lee Return Announcement for “WOW: Women Of Wrestling”

CM Punk from AEW recently spoke with Illustrated sports about the news that his wife AJ Mendez (recognized as AJ Lee in WWE) is making a comeback to pro wrestling. Mendez will assume the role of executive producer and color commentator for Women of Wrestling starting in fall 2022.

“I’m very excited for her,” Punk says. ” She does what she wants. She’s going to be able to write and use her voice to do something she thought she might not have the chance to do anymore. These aren’t bumps, and it’s a chance to help nurture and develop the next generation of women in wrestling. It’s a perfect place, perfect for her.

Last September, Punk noted how Mendez would be more open to return to the fight but she still faced a bad neck. He also highlights his busy schedule, which will now be much busier with his WOW tasks.

“I would like to see [AJ return]”said Punk Moose and Maggie from WFAN. “I get asked this question every time I do an interview and I love it. I absolutely love him. I don’t (I think she wants to) because she’s a very small person and her neck hurts. I think the shelf life of women in wrestling, wrestling with a full program, is much shorter, it is much smaller than men.

“And I think she’s so focused on what she’s doing now, writing screenplays. She’s working on a million different projects, being pulled in so many directions,” he continued. ‘she would probably, maybe be receptive to coming back, but that can’t even fit into her vocabulary right now. She’s so focused on film scripts and the TV adaptation of a book that she works.

You can see an excerpt from the WOW press conference below:

“But my goal after the fight was to create these characters for the next generation. So every little girl could see herself on TV and know that nothing was impossible. We are not crying… you are, according to what AJ Mendez said at the press conference! ?? https://t.co/l1NFZpRJMl
