Sammy Shore, co-founder of the World Famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles, has passed away. He was 92 years old.

The stand-up comedian died of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas and was surrounded by family, according to a tribute made Saturday on the Facebook page of The Comedy Store.

"Words can not express how much we miss his comic gift, friendship and charity. The bright light that he shone and the laughter that he brought to the lives of all the people he touched will never falter. There is only one 'Brother Sam'!

Shore co-founded The Comedy Store with his writing partner Rudy De Luca in 1972. He would soon become one of the country's most popular comedy clubs.

His son, actor and comedian Pauly Shore, posted a series of tweets Saturday about the late comedian's commitment to his family and his love of comedy.

"I regret to let everyone know that my father Sammy Shore recently died at age 92 because of natural causes," began Pauly. "My parents divorced when I was three years old and although my mother was the one who raised me, my father still provided me with the best of his abilities."

"He came in little leagues, vacations and birthdays. My father sacrificed much of his career for his family, even though he only wanted to stay on the road, tell jokes and be free, "continued Pauly. "When I decided to do comedy, it was my father who took me to my first gig. It was in a restaurant called The Alley Cat Bistro in Marina Del Rey on September 25, 1985. "

Pauly concluded by writing, "Dad, you have lived an incredible life and I am so proud to say that you are my father. When you are in heaven, I will kill the crowds night after night and I will perpetuate your inheritance. I love you dad. Rest in peace."

Shore's former stand-up career began with the Catskills as a comedy team with Shecky Greene. Shore's popularity was going to skyrocket after Elvis asked the comedian to open for him.

During his enviable career, Shore has opened for Tony Orlando, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis, Jr., Tom Jones and many other well-known names.

It will then be elected Atlantic City Press's best comedy act in Atlantic City and will be named a day on July 24, 1990 by the Los Angeles County Supervisory Board. He has also become the only comedian to have worked more than any other artist in Harrah's casinos and hotels.

Shore has recorded several albums, including "Brother Sam, Come Heal With Me" and "70 Sucks, but 80 is Worse". He has also written and performed in a series of one-man shows and has appeared in several films, including The hunter with Jerry Lewis and Life stinks with Mel Brooks.

When Shore moved to Las Vegas, his wife Suzanne Dennie Shore and he became abandoned animal advocates and joined forces with the Nevada SPCA to raise funds and raise awareness.

Shore is survived by his wife, three dogs, four children and two grandchildren.
