Mondelez Global LLC announced Monday a voluntary recall to the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, of 16 products from Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits.
These products contain whey powder as an ingredient removed by the supplier due to the possible presence of salmonella.
To date, no complaints have been received concerning diseases reported to Mondelez Global concerning these products. [19659002] The company makes this recall as a precaution, based on the removal of the ingredient supplier, reads a statement.
Salmonella is a microorganism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, weak or elderly people, and others whose immune systems are weakened.
With salmonella, they often have fever, diarrhea (which can be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, the infection can cause the body to enter the bloodstream and cause more serious diseases, such as arterial infections (infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
