In the first half of 2018, the collection of the gross tax, carried out by the Dian, reached the figure of 74.4 billion pesos, a figure similar to that of 2017, which was 74.1 billion pesos. This means that tax revenues have not even increased to recover what is lost by inflation.

The collection behavior, according to the explanation of the Dian, is due to "the lowering of the two points to the income tax surcharge established by Law 1819 of 2016 (from 6% to 4%), in order to lighten the cash flow of companies ".

According to the statistics presented by the entity, revenue from income taxes and additional taxes amounted to 14.3 trillion pesos, an increase of 13.8 percent over the same period from the previous year.

Meanwhile, VAT, with everything and the two extra points, accounted for 17.6 billion pesos, an increase of 10.5% over the first half of 2017.
