Libya announces the reopening of terminals for the export of crude oil

The Libyan National Oil Corporation (known as NOC) announced today that four terminals have been reopened after groups from the east of the country have handed over the control of the ports.

The company lifted the measure of force majeure – a legal recourse on contractual obligations – in the ports of Ras Lanouf, Es Sider, Zueitina and Hariga, according to a statement issued by the company. and the export operations will return to normal levels in the next few hours, "the NOC said in a Reuters report.

The Ports were closed last month in a struggle for control by political factions rivalry, resulting in a reduction in Libyan oil production of up to 850,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).

Ras Lanuf and Es Sider were closed when armed groups opposed the commander and Khalifa Haftar, based in the east of the country, attacked them on June 14.

The attack was postponed a week later, but eastern officials lined up with Haftar blocked operations at both. terminals, in addition to Zueitina and Hariga, claiming that they would take control of exports through a rival entity of the NOC.

The guard of oil facilities of the East and the leader of the parallel company at the NOC, Faraj Said, have confirmed the reopening of the ports, although Mr Said told Reuters that Ras Lanuf and Es Sider would require maintenance after the recent incidents.
