American cartoonist Stephen Ditko, co-creator of Spider-Man and other superheroes, died at age 90, according to what was known Saturday. The New York police said he was found in his apartment on June 29, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The cause of his death has not been confirmed.
Born in 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Ditko worked alongside Stan Lee, who became Marvel's CEO in the early 1960s. He's the one who designed the famous Spider blue and red suit -Man.
"Today, the Marvel family is mourning the loss of Steve Ditko, Steve has transformed the industry and the Marvel universe, and his legacy will never be forgotten," said the president. Marvel Entertainment, Dan Buckley, in a release
Ditko, a somewhat mysterious man who never married. Marvel in 1966, apparently because of a misunderstanding with Lee. He then went to work with other companies, including DC Comics, but returned to Marvel in 1979.
Through his social networks, Marvel lamented Ditko's death and paid him emotional tributes , using the Spiderman figure.
