The training lasts from three to six months, in which they must take place one day a week, so that a multidisciplinary team of specialists can provide information then enter a workshop where they interact and put into practice the knowledge. acquired.
They are also taught the importance of taking their pharmacological treatments to the letter and identifying the warning signs in case of adverse events.
For example, the rheumatologist gives the floor to the group of rheumatoid arthritis, but also the orthopedist informs about the possibilities of surgery, the care of the prosthesis and the alignment of the joints. Thereafter, the physiotherapy professional intervenes, who teaches patients the care they should receive, their joints, during their daily activities.
Finally, Lino Pérez informed that, given the problem of childhood obesity in the country, it was decided that this condition should be included in the program of the Universidad del Paciente.
