COMAL COMAL, Texas – Comal County reported 118 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, for a total of 12,049 cases since the start of the pandemic.
There are currently 505 active cases of COVID-19, according to the county.
Comal County last had more than 500 active cases on February 12.
“Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients are on the rise at local hospitals. We are also seeing more children showing up sicker with COVID-19, ”Comal County Director of Public Health Cheryl Fraser said in a written statement.
The county has reported 28 COVID-19 patients in area hospitals, 10 of whom are in intensive care and six are on ventilators.
Officials say the total number of deaths from COVID-19 remains at 334.
Fraser recommends that residents get vaccinated to be better protected against the coronavirus.
