CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Public Health has confirmed having confirmed its first case of measles since 2011 in the northeastern state.

The health department has not given a more specific place.

Health officials said on Monday that the person had not been vaccinated and that she had just returned from Israel, where measles is spreading.

Over the weekend, officials said they confirmed the case through testing at the state's sanitation laboratory.

The infected person cooperated with health officials, according to a press release.

Officials said they were following up with other people likely to have been exposed to make sure they are vaccinated. They believe that there is no danger to the public.
