Confirmed measles case in Shasta County

The Public Health Branch of the Shasta County Health and Social Services Agency confirmed the existence of a case of measles in Shasta County.

The patient is currently in isolation and is contacted by anyone with whom he has had contact during the past eight days.

Public health officials would like to inform the public that it is not imperative that they contact public health immediately. However, individuals who are in the following locations and who experience specific conditions, such as unvaccinated or symptomatic symptoms, should call (530) 225-5591.

The telephone lines are open until 8pm. Saturday and 8h to 17h Sunday.

  • Taco Bell on Old Alturas Road in Redding on March 16th from 11am to 4pm and March 17th from 6am to noon.
  • The Raley's Supermarket on Redding Lake Boulevard on March 18 between 6 pm and 7 pm
  • Shasta College 800 Building on March 19th from 9.30am to 12pm and from 3.30pm to 5pm.
  • Shasta College Library on March 19th from noon to 4:30 pm
  • The Raley's Supermarket on Lake Boulevard in Redding on March 19th from 11am to 12:30 pm

Symptoms include: fever, cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis (pink eye) and then a rash that starts at the head and spreads downwards. This is the first confirmed case of measles in Shasta County since April 2014.
