The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has recorded at least 51 new cases of Ebola infection since the beginning of the week, while two screening tents in Kasese, a Ugandan village that shares a border with the DRC , were burned after the detection of Ugandan high fever workers in a Congolese boy trying to enter Uganda.

Since the epidemic that began almost a year ago in North Kivu and Ituri provinces in the DRC, neighboring countries have subjected travelers to hundreds of control sites at ports of entry.

On Wednesday, officials quoted in a Ugandan newspaper said the fires began after a teenager arriving in Uganda from the DRC was tested positive for a high fever and was taken to a hospital in the DRC.

In June, Uganda confirmed two cases of Ebola in a Congolese family who had shuttled between the two countries to attend the funeral of an Ebola victim. Since then, Uganda has strengthened border surveillance.

In a new update on the outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that no new cases of Ebola had been detected in Uganda among the contact.

"As of June 26th, 108 exposed contacts had been identified and they were about to complete the 21-day follow-up period. The contacts are visited daily for 21 days until the end of the last contact on July 3rd. All contacts remain asymptomatic to date, "said WHO.
