The University of Connecticut health system is canceling COVID-19 vaccination appointments due to shortages.
On its COVID-19 vaccination program website, UConn Health said her weekly vaccine allocation is reduced due to product shortages at the national and federal levels.
All appointments for the first doses of vaccine scheduled for Monday through February 8 are canceled and no new appointments for the first doses are accepted. The health system said decisions to cancel additional appointments beyond February 8 will be made next week.
UConn Health said it plans to keep its commitments to those who should receive second doses.
About 300,000 people in Connecticut received their first doses of the coronavirus vaccine on Friday, according to Office of Governor Ned Lamont (D). About 64,000 received their second.
The state is during vaccination healthcare workers, residents of long-term care facilities, medical first responders, and those aged 75 and over.
Connecticut reported 250,023 positive COVID-19 cases in total on Saturday and 7,046 deaths.
Lamont said Thursday that he was considering easing some of the state’s restrictions on coronaviruses, including removing digital caps on places of worship and lifting the 10 p.m. curfew at restaurants.
