CONNECTICUT – Hospitalizations and positivity rates linked to the coronavirus continue to climb in the state, as the most contagious delta variant continues to spread.
Over the weekend, Connecticut’s daily positivity rate for coronaviruses climbed to 3.55%, based on 44,577 tests producing 1,581 new cases. The total of laboratory-confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases reported among Connecticut residents is now 363,417.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to classify four of Connecticut’s eight counties – Middlesex, New Haven, Hartford and New London – as having “high” community transmission of COVID-19. The classification is defined as 100 or more cases per 100,000 people, or a positivity rate of 10% or more, in the past seven days.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 continue to rise steadily in Connecticut. Twenty-six residents have been admitted to area hospitals since Friday, bringing the total number of patients to 285.
