Conor McGregor had ‘bad practice’ leading to broken leg: ‘You kept throwing it’

Conor McGregor blames pre-existing stress fractures for his broken leg at UFC 264, which leaves UFC Vegas 32’s Darrick Minner with a few questions.

McGregor broke his leg in the dying moments of the first round of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday July 10. “Has his leg been fractured?” Probably. We’ve all probably been through this, ”Minner says. “But I don’t train without shin pads and I don’t kick people’s knees without shin pads. Elkins rebounded from Luiz Eduardo Garagorri in November to end a career-worst four-game losing streak. Minner, who has more professional fights than Elkins despite being younger and newer to the game, trains for the Elkins of old.

“I’m getting ready for Darren Elkins who was ranked number seven or eight in the world. I am ready to take this leap into another level of competition. I just have to go see Darren Elkins at this point. I expect the best Darren Elkins ever. Will it happen? Minner asked. “It’s not my call. You’d better have the right people in the right place to make that call for you if you can’t make them yourself. My guys know if I get it a certain way you better let me know because we’re too stubborn. We are fighters. We are stubborn as hell.
