FRANKLIN, VA – A local man is in the Hertford County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Virginia, where he is charged with numerous charges including theft and kidnapping.
According to information shared on the Franklin Police Department (VA) Facebook page, Junior Devon Williams, 39, of Conway, is identified as the suspect in a crime that occurred around 10 p.m. on Friday, October 8 in the Franklin Walmart.

In a press release, Police Sgt. Franklin. Scott Halverson said an individual, apparently outside the store, was approached by a man who asked him for money to buy gasoline. This man showed a gun and forced the individual into the store and ordered him to withdraw an undisclosed sum of money from an ATM.
“The victim was then forced to drive the suspect to an unknown location in North Carolina,” said the staff sergeant. Halverson noted in the press release posted on Facebook.
A Franklin Police investigation ensued, which ultimately led them to identify the suspect as Williams.
Arrest warrants have been obtained, charging Williams with robbery, use of a firearm in a robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Franklin Police detectives were assisted by the Murfreesboro Police Department in locating and arresting Williams.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Williams has previously been convicted and served several short stays in prison for theft or possession of stolen property in Wake (2006), Hertford (2007 and 2009) counties. and Halifax (2010 and 2016). .
