The national wave of coronavirus continues to hit Oregon.
The state reported seven more deaths and 1,509 new confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases on Saturday. The number of reported cases set a record for the second day in a row.
The Oregon Health Authority warned on Friday that the rapid increase in cases posed a “clear and current threat” to the ability of hospitals to provide space and care for those suffering from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The official global COVID-19 death toll in Oregon now stands at 819. The coronavirus is spreading uncontrollably across much of the state.
Public health officials say the best chance for the state to reduce the number of cases and relieve pressure on hospitals is for people to stay at home as much as possible, embrace masks and social distancing when in public, and following the government. The restrictions recently instituted by Kate Brown on gatherings.
“The main message we’re trying to get across is that as the virus spreads quickly, tighten your bubble,” Oregon Health Authority senior adviser Dr. Bukhosi Dube told The Oregonian / OregonLive on Thursday.

New deaths: The 813th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 76-year-old man from Douglas County with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on October 29 and died on November 19 at Mercy Medical Center.
The 814th death from COVID-19 is an 84-year-old Jackson County man with underlying conditions. He tested positive on October 24 and died on November 13.
The 815th death from COVID-19 is a 75-year-old Columbia County woman who had underlying conditions. She tested positive on October 23 and died on November 19 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital.
The 816th death from COVID-19 is a 77-year-old Jackson County woman who had underlying conditions. She tested positive on November 9 and died on November 19 at her home.
The 817th death from COVID-19 is an 83-year-old Jackson County man who tested positive on November 10 and died on November 20 at his home. Officials are working to confirm if he had any underlying conditions.
The 818th death from COVID-19 is an 86-year-old Washington County man who had underlying conditions. He tested positive on November 2 and died on November 19 at his home.
The 819th death from COVID-19 is an 85-year-old Jackson County woman in Jackson County who had underlying conditions. She tested positive on November 12 and died on November 20 at her home.
